These are Orange Cherry Shrimp that have been bred and raised in the US. You will receive a minimum of 10 LIVE SHRIMP (plus a few extras), Neocaridina heteropoda sp. (AKA Orange Sakura Shrimp) that I’ve bred and raised at my farm in central Florida. These are a small freshwater invertebrate that looks a lot like a miniature lobsters. Adults measure slightly larger than 1 1/4″ please refer to the comparison photo of an adult Orange Cherry Shrimp beside a shrimp that will be similar to the size shrimp that you will be receiving. The Shrimp you’ll be receiving will be adult size in about 6 months and live up to 2 1/2 years. Adult Orange Cherry Shrimp are adapted to the environment to which they have been raised and accustomed to and are considered fragile. For this reason the Juvenile Shrimp you will receive are much better for adapting to a new environment and they withstand the stresses associated with shipping better as well. If you’ve ever kept Red Cherry Shrimp, you’ll also be able to care for these Orange Sakura shrimp in the same way They are fun to watch because they are very active and often you’ll see them attached to each other while swimming about. I culture some of them in with Scuds and various types of snails. They are a great live food to any Live Tankmates large enough to eat them so please be cautious. They may also be used to enhance filtration systems. They are tolerant to extremes in heat, cold, ph, high bacteria count, low O2 etc. They are much easier to culture than Daphnia. I feed them a pinch of the powdered millings from the bottom of a flake food container as well as from the bottom of the bag of algae wafers each day. As a treat they like thread algae too. If grown outdoors, provide them with some shade. The photographs taken below are of some of my Shrimp growing in a 10 gallon aquarium. They grow and multiply fast in warm conditions and are very easy to care for and can adapt to any water conditions. They grow much faster when the temperature of the water is at least 75 degrees. I use them in almost all of my small livebearer aquariums. They seem to enjoy having a bit of Duckweed or Naja Grass to hang on to. They eat thread algae and will help your plants in the process. They are a great beginners shrimp as well as a basic necessity for advanced Freshwater Aquarist. I’ll send you some very nice healthy Shrimp. Visit my ‘Justme’ Page on Aquabid for more info. I’ll be glad to combine any other items you may be interested in purchasing from my farm to minimize your shipping cost. See availability list below for other items available. I welcome any questions, Thanks, Mitchell, LiveFins Fish Farm, Brooksville, Florida 34604.
